Many people will attest Weber Spirit II E-210 Natural Gas Grill are intelligently designed, function beautifully, and built to last. However, now and then, the company will miss the mark. When Weber began manufacturing its Spirit series in China, loyalists were not pleased.
48 x 26 x 57 inches
Stainless Steel burner
- easy to assemble
- open cart design
- six tool hooks
- great grill
- not large cooking area
- low side shelves quality
Some of the displeased supporters even vowed never to purchase a Weber grill again. Weber attempts to show consumers that the location change of manufacturing the Spirit series does not affect the quality that grillers have come to enjoy. In fact, the company offers a 10-year warranty on its Spirit products.
Every five years, it seems Weber redesigns its Spirit Series. The line received upgrades in 2008, 2013, and again in 2018. The latest model features a GS4 grilling system, which is designed for ease of use, and reversible cooking grates. Weber claims this system improves the cooking experience.
Delivery and Packing
A clearly marked box with a photo of the Weber Spirit II E-210 arrives at customer’s doorsteps within two to three days. Reviewers were pleased with how well the contents were packed in the box. In a few cases, the box arrived in bad shape. However, after unboxing, all the components were intact, and no scratches were reported. This unit may be purchased with expert assembly. Nevertheless, most buyers chose to put the unit together themselves. Reviewers note that the parts are clearly marked, and the illustrated instructions made the two-hour assembly process easy.
Construction and Appearance
The Weber Spirit II E-210 is one of Weber’s smallest grills. It has a bold cart-style design. Built with a robust GS4 grilling system, it dons a porcelain-enamel steel lid, which is available in four colors: red, ivory, black, or sapphire.
An ergonomically designed handle extends from the lid for easy lifting. A centered-mount thermometer and aluminum end caps add to its look. Also, this unit has side tables with three integrated tool hooks on each side. The left table folds down and the right table remains upright because it houses Weber’s iGrill3 system. On the right side of the grill is a scale and connections for a propane tank.
The Weber Spirit II E-210 has control knobs on the front panel. It is equipped with porcelain-enameled cast iron grates. Slots on the inside of the grill allow the placement of a warming rack or rotisserie (not included). A bottom shelf provides room for grilling accessories.
Facts and Figures
The way a grill starts can mean the difference of cooking right away or wasting valuable time waiting for it to heat up. Gas grills operate with a starter or ignitor. Some models use a dial to get the fire going and others use a push-button to generate a spark. Electronic ignitors work quickly and need a battery to operate.
Weber’s Spirit II E-210 has an Infinity Ignition switch. It is an electronic ignitor that requires two AA batteries to function. Two burners run from the front to the rear and deliver a maximum output of 26,500 BTU. Each burner waits to receive the command from the Infinity Ignition to fire up the flames over the 450 square inch cooking space. This grill operates with 20-pound liquid propane tank (a natural gas model is available).
The Weber Spirit II E-210 weights 100 pounds. With the lid opened, the grill measures 57″ high, 48″ wide, and 26″ deep. Closed, it measures 44.5″ high x 48″ wide x 27″deep. Folding down the side table subtracts 10″ from its width. The area between the grates and the lid averages to 9″ at its highest point. Weber offers an across the board 10-year, 100 percent warranty on all parts, excluding normal wear and tear.
One of the improvements of the Weber Spirit II E-210 is the GS4 grilling operation. It features porcelain-enameled Flavorizer Bars, burners, an upgraded Infinity Ignition, and a grease management system.
Weber redesigned the Infinity Ignition so that it is more reliable and guarantees it will light every time by covering it with a 10-year warranty. The porcelain-enameled Flavorizer Bars are designed to enhance the grilling experience by keeping the juices flowing in the food.
Also, Weber added reversible porcelain-enameled cooking grates to the Spirit II E-210 model. The grates allow outdoor grilling enthusiasts the ability to cook delicate foods on one side and achieve thick sear marks on the other. The grease management system was upgraded to be more efficient and slides from underneath the firebox. A disposable grease pan allows for easy cleanup.
In addition to the GS4 grilling system, the Weber Spirit II E-210 features a stainless steel heat deflector. This thin piece of iron-based metal lays between the burners and the grate to shield the burners and redirect heat to the food on the grates.
Also, the Weber Spirit II E-210 comes equipped with the iGrill3 system, allowing serious backyard chefs to download an app to monitor the food.
The Weber Spirit II E-210 scored high in the independent test. It preheated quickly and cooked foods evenly. The temperature range proved to be precise, so testers were able to cook food long and slow or hot and fast. Weber’s cast iron grates held onto heat, which allowed for a good transfer. The unit received its highest ranking in sturdiness.
- Preheats quickly
- Cooks evenly
- Good heat retention and transfer
- Quality Construction
- Comes in four colors
- No flaws were noted in its performance
Although the grill space is limited on this Outdoor Grill Review Winner, it still delivers. The Weber Spirit II E-210 offers enough space to grill a couple of steaks and sausages. Filled to capacity, it holds about 15 burgers. Side tables for spices, tools, and serving add convenience. The grates are heavy, retain heat and do a good job of transferring it to foods.
